Encanto Movie Screening

The OPC's Movies on the Plaza series continues with an outdoor screening of Disney's Encanto (2021), an evening celebrating hope, kindness, and joy for the whole family. Before the film, enjoy hands-on pre-film activities including decorative toy boxes, hat making, and friendship badge making led by the Hyde Park Art Center. A special music performance by the Chicago Youth Symphony Jazz Combo, inspired by themes of the movie, will welcome guests as they arrive to the plaza. The evening is hosted by celebrated WGN Morning News feature reporter Ana Belaval. Bring your blankets and enjoy a magical night under the stars.

  • An illustration in a bold-line, distorted-proportion style featuring a massive hand and arm covered in a textured collage of colorful torn paper, a hallmark of artist Mark Bradford's work. The hand holds a large, similarly textured map of the United States. In the background, the modern architectural buildings of the Obama Presidential Center campus are depicted under a pale yellow sky, with a small sign that reads "Layers of America: Mark Bradford." A tiny figure in the bottom corner looks up at the scene, emphasizing the exaggerated scale of the hand.
