Life in the White House

The Obamas created a White House that was open, inclusive, and reflected America’s unique diversity and vibrancy. Delve into Life in the White House and revisit the moments and personal touches that made the Executive Mansion feel like home. Explore Mrs. Obama’s iconic fashion, gifts presented by foreign heads of state, and memorabilia from sports legends.

The Oval Office

The Oval Office is an iconic symbol of the American presidency. Located in the West Wing of the White House, the Office has served as the official work space of the president since 1909. Experience the  full-scale replica of President Obama’s Oval Office, and sit behind the Resolute Desk.

Opening the White House

During the Obama administration, the White House welcomed thousands of visitors. From Kitchen Garden harvests to musical performances, the White House became a space infused with vigor and joy. Walk through Opening the White House and learn how the First Family brought the house to life for thousands of visitors. Guests can also take a fun look inside miniature models of rooms in the White House.
